Donald Trump threatens Iran with repeat of ‘Midnight Hammer’ after meeting with Netanyahu

US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with another bombing attack after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu visited Washington DC to speak with Trump at the White House.
The pair met for several hours but did not make a public appearance together and Netanyahu left without speaking to reporters.

However, Trump posted on Truth Social afterwards that he and Netanyahu had a “very good” meeting.
“There was nothing definitive reached other than I insisted that negotiations with Iran continue to see whether or not a Deal can be consummated,” he wrote.
“If it can, I let the Prime Minister know that will be a preference. If it cannot, we will just have to see what the outcome will be.”

He then referenced 2025’s strikes on Iranian facilities that damaged the country’s nuclear program.
“Last time Iran decided that they were better off not making a Deal, and they were hit with Midnight Hammer – That did not work well for them,” Trump wrote.
“Hopefully this time they will be more reasonable and responsible.”
Iranian and US officials met for talks in Oman last week, and both sides expressed optimism about reaching an agreement, though nothing was decided.
The Trump administration has said they want talks to focus on definitively ending Iran’s nuclear program – perhaps a tacit admission that last year’s strikes were not as destructive as the White House initially claimed.

Netanyahu, meanwhile, wants the US to also engage with Iran on its ballistic missile capabilities and its support for militant groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has signalled that Tehran’s position on its right to enrich uranium will not shift, which is likely to remain a major sticking point in the negotiations.
Before the 12-day war with Israel last June that ended in the US airstrikes, Iran was enriching uranium to 60 per cent, which is only a short step away from weapons-grade.
Araghchi has claimed no enrichment has been done since November last year, citing damage to the program and facilities.
