Trump says he takes a higher daily dose of aspirin than his doctors advise in lengthy interview on his health

US President Donald Trump told The Wall Street Journal in an interview that he takes a higher dose of aspirin than his doctors have recommended, blaming that for the visible hand bruises that have generated renewed questions about his health. "They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don't want thick blood pouring through my heart," Trump, 79, said of why he takes a larger dose. "I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?" Trump has long had bruising on his right hand, which CNN has reported predated his return to the White House. Trump willing to release MRI results, but ‘no idea’ which part of body it examined

US President Donald Trump appeared open to releasing the results of a recent MRI, although he said he was unaware which part of his body was examined in the scan. "If they want to release it, it's OK with me to release it. It's perfect," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. Pressed by a reporter on which part of his body the MRI examined, Trump said, "I have no idea. It was just an MRI – what part of the body? It wasn't the brain, because I took a cognitive test and I aced it." RFK Jr ‘endangering’ Americans, say former CDC bosses

Nine former leaders of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have spoken out against Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, publishing an open letter that criticises his policies - including restricting vaccines, pulling funding for research, and firing thousands of healthcare workers. They also wrote in an open letter that last week's removal of Dr Susan Monarez as CDC director - which was followed by a string of resignations in protest - added fuel to a "raging fire". Kennedy, meanwhile, said on Tuesday that the CDC had strayed from its "core mission". He added that public trust in the organization had been hurt by "bureaucratic inertia, politicized science and mission creep". In their open letter in the New York Times, the former health leaders said the s...

Coca-Cola says it will release a new version of its soft drink after Trump recommendation

Coca-Cola confirmed that it will release a new Coke made with cane sugar. The announcement follows a social media post from President Donald Trump last week in which he claimed he persuaded the company to replace high-fructose corn syrup. The company revealed in its earnings report that as "part of its ongoing innovation agenda," it will launch in the autumn an "offering made with US cane sugar" as part of its product range. Some versions of Coke already use cane sugar, including Coca-Cola sold in Mexico. "This addition is designed to complement the company's strong core portfolio and offer more choices across occasions and preferences," Coca-Cola said in a statement. CEO James Quincey said on a call with analysts that he thinks the drink "will be an ...

Trump is undergoing his annual physical after years of reluctance to share medical information

Donald Trump is undergoing his annual physical on Friday, potentially giving the public its first details in years about the health of a man who in January became the oldest in US history to be sworn in as president. "I have never felt better, but nevertheless, these things must be done!" Trump, 78, posted on his social media site of the examination which was being conducted at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, in Bethesda, Maryland, outside Washington. Despite long questioning predecessor Joe Biden's physical and mental capacity, Trump has routinely kept basic facts about his own health shrouded in secrecy — shying away from traditional presidential transparency on medical issues. RFK Jr visits epicentre of measles outbreak after death of second infected child

US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited the epicentre of Texas' still-growing measles outbreak, the same day a funeral was held for a second young child who was not vaccinated and died from a measles-related illness. Knnedy said in a social media post that he was working to "control the outbreak" and went to Gaines County on Sunday to comfort the families who have buried two young children. He was seen outside of a Mennonite church where the funeral services were held, but he did not attend a nearby news conference held by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about the outbreak.
