There is a larger problem for Trump in the Epstein chaos

Analysis: Ezra Klein begins one of his recent podcasts by telling a joke that has been making the rounds. Basically, a conspiracy theorist dies and ascends to heaven. God is there to greet him and explains that as part of the celestial welcome, he will answer any question the man has, writes American journalist and commentator Fareed Zakaria "Please, I must know the answer to this one," the man says, "who killed John F. Kennedy?" God answers instantly, "That's easy: Lee Harvey Oswald." Shocked, the man murmurs, "This goes higher than I had thought!" This is the dilemma in which Donald Trump finds himself. Whatever he does to deflect and distract from the Jeffrey Epstein morass only deepens the suspicions — including those about the two men's relationship. President Donald Tr...

US Justice Department to reach out to Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell

The US Department of Justice said it has reached out to Jeffrey Epstein's former associate Ghislaine Maxwell for a meeting amid backlash over the administration's handling of files related to Epstein. "Justice demands courage. For the first time, the Department of Justice is reaching out to Ghislaine Maxwell to ask: what do you know? At @AGPamBondi's direction, I've contacted her counsel. I intend to meet with her soon. No one is above the law – and no lead is off-limits," Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in an X post. Blanche added in a statement posted by Attorney General Pam Bondi on social media that if "Ghislane Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say." Blanche said ...

Trump lashes out at ‘weaklings’ who believe Epstein ‘hoax’ amid building GOP pressure to release documents

US President Donald Trump has accused some of his longtime supporters of being "weaklings" who are falling prey to Democratic "bullshit" about the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — concluding that he no longer wants their support. The message was the clearest sign yet of the cracks emerging in the president's coalition, many of whom are loudly demanding more information about the disgraced financier, who has been subject to myriad conspiracies since his death by suicide in 2019. And some of his allies don't appear to be listening, with Republicans in Congress taking steps on Wednesday morning (Wednesday night AEST) to potentially force the Justice Department to release more documents. With Trump defending the findings, the situation has set up an unprecedented ...

Trump says Coca-Cola will use real sugar in its US flagship drink. The company isn’t confirming that

President Donald Trump said Coca-Cola has agreed to use real cane sugar in its flagship soft drink in the US at his suggestion — though the company didn't confirm such a move. Any switch from high-fructose corn syrup in Coke sold in the US would put Coca-Cola more in line with its practice in other countries, including Mexico and Australia. But it wouldn't affect Trump's drink of choice, Diet Coke, which uses aspartame as a calorie-free beverage. "I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so," Trump wrote on his social media site. Donald Trump has announced Coca-Cola is changing its recipe at his request. (AP) "I'd like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a v...

US moves B-2 bombers as Trump weighs Iran options

Multiple US B-2 bombers appear to have taken off from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri on Friday night and are heading west, according to flight tracking data CNN has reviewed, as President Donald Trump weighs his military options over a potential airstrike in Iran. A US defense official said there has been no order given to move forward with any kind of operation against Iran using the B-2s. As of Saturday, the planes are flying over the Pacific and appear to be headed toward Guam. A B-2 Spirit Bomber is seen in Nevada on January 23. Famous faces take to streets as No Kings protests attract thousands across US

The mass "No Kings" demonstrations held across the US to protest US President Donald Trump and his military parade attracted some very famous faces. Over 2000 protests took place in 50 different US states to rail against "authoritarianism, billionaire-first politics, and the militarisation of our democracy" under Trump, according to organisers. Marchers took to the streets at the same time a military parade rolled through Washington, DC, to mark the 250th anniversary of the US Army, which also happened to be Trump's 79th birthday.
