Donald Trump threatens Iran with repeat of ‘Midnight Hammer’ after meeting with Netanyahu

US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with another bombing attack after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu visited Washington DC to speak with Trump at the White House. The pair met for several hours but did not make a public appearance together and Netanyahu left without speaking to reporters. US President Donald Trump threatened Iran in a new Truth Social post, but said the talks would continue. (Truth Social) However, Trump posted on Truth Social afterwards that he and Netanyahu had a "very good" meeting. "There was nothing definitive reached other than I insisted that negotiations with Iran continue to see whether or not a Deal can be consummated," he wrote. "If it can, I let the Prime Minister know that will ...

US shoots down Iranian drone approaching aircraft carrier, official says

The US military on Tuesday shot down an Iranian drone that "aggressively" approached the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea, the US military said, in an incident first reported by Reuters. The Iranian Shahed-139 drone was flying toward the carrier "with unclear intent" and was shot down by an F-35 US fighter jet, it said. "An F-35C fighter jet from Abraham Lincoln shot down the Iranian drone in self-defence and to protect the aircraft carrier and personnel on board," said Navy Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson at the US military's Central Command. Has Trump really ended eight wars? Fact-checking the president’s claim

If there is anything Donald Trump covets more than anything else, it's the Nobel Peace Prize. The president has repeatedly spoken of how much he deserved it, and raged in public and private at the country of Norway, which he believes is responsible for not giving it to him. At the centre of his claim for the prize is the boast that he has ended eight wars in a year. Reporters raise their hands as President Donald Trump speaks during a press briefing at the White House. (AP) But has he? "The short answer is no. And in fact, the short answer is not even close," Monash University senior lecturer in international relations Ben Zala told nine.com.au. "Two and a half, or, let's be generous and say three, are factually correct." Israel ...

Ally of Iranian Supreme Leader jokes Iran could assassinate sunbathing Donald Trump

A friend of the Iranian Supreme Leader has joked Iran could assassinate US President Donald Trump in Florida. During a discussion about Iran's military technology, regime figure Mohammad-Javad Larijani and advisor to Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Trump "can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago". "While he's lying down, a micro-drone might target and strike him right in the navel," he said, laughing while he made the remarks. The outlet reported Larijani added "of course, we fight like men", which suggested Iran would not carry out an attack on Trump. The...

UN nuclear watchdog chief says Iran could again begin enriching uranium in ‘matter of months’

The head of the United Nation's nuclear watchdog says US strikes on Iran fell short of causing total damage to its nuclear program and that Tehran could restart enriching uranium "in a matter of months", contradicting US President Donald Trump's claims the US set Tehran's ambitions back by decades. Rafael Grossi's comments appear to support an early assessment from the Pentagon's Defence Intelligence Agency, first reported on by CNN, which suggests the US' strikes on key Iranian nuclear sites last week did not destroy the core components of its nuclear program, and likely only set it back by months. While the final military and intelligence assessment has yet to come, Trump has repeatedly claimed to have "completely and totally obliterated" Tehran's nuclear program. IA...

US moves B-2 bombers as Trump weighs Iran options

Multiple US B-2 bombers appear to have taken off from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri on Friday night and are heading west, according to flight tracking data CNN has reviewed, as President Donald Trump weighs his military options over a potential airstrike in Iran. A US defense official said there has been no order given to move forward with any kind of operation against Iran using the B-2s. As of Saturday, the planes are flying over the Pacific and appear to be headed toward Guam. A B-2 Spirit Bomber is seen in Nevada on January 23. (Carlos Barria/Reuters/FILE via CNN Newsource) Two US defense officials cautioned that any movement of B-2s does not mean an operation is imminent but rather is intended to provide the president with options. Another US officia...
