Famous faces take to streets as No Kings protests attract thousands across US

The mass "No Kings" demonstrations held across the US to protest US President Donald Trump and his military parade attracted some very famous faces. Over 2000 protests took place in 50 different US states to rail against "authoritarianism, billionaire-first politics, and the militarisation of our democracy" under Trump, according to organisers. Marchers took to the streets at the same time a military parade rolled through Washington, DC, to mark the 250th anniversary of the US Army, which also happened to be Trump's 79th birthday. ‘Immediately evacuate Tehran’: Trump’s chilling social media warning

US President Donald Trump has urged a complete evacuation of the Iranian capital city of Tehran, as the conflict with Israel continues to escalate. "Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. "Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Donald Trump urged "everyone" to evacuate Tehran, Iran, "immediately". (Truth Social) "Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!" Tehran is home to about 9.5 million people. A new round of talks scheduled for the weekend between the US and Iran were scotched when Israel launched a series of missile strikes targeting sites and people connected to Iran's nuclear program. Trump abandoned ...

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s office says Trump meeting cancellation ‘understandable’

A spokesperson for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's office says it is "understandable" his face-to-face meeting with Donald Trump was cancelled, after the White House said the US president would be leaving the G7 summit in Canada early. "President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X. "Much was accomplished, but because of what's going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State." Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the G7. (Alex Ellinghausen) Albanese was set to meet Trump on the sidelines of the G7 this week, but the timing of Trump's departure now means it will not go...

Trump threatens 50 per cent tariffs on EU and 25 per cent penalties on Apple as his trade war intensifies

US President Donald Trump on Friday threatened a 50 per cent tax on all imports from the European Union as well a 25 per cent tariff on Apple products, unless iPhones are made in America. The threats, delivered over social media, reflect Trump's ability to disrupt the global economy with a burst of typing as well as the reality that his tariffs have yet to produce the trade deals he is seeking or the return of domestic manufacturing he has promised voters. The Republican president said he wants to charge higher import taxes on goods from the EU, a long-standing US ally, than from China, a geopolitical rival that had its tariffs cut to 30 per cent this month so Washington and Beijing could hold negotiations. US President Donald Trump on Friday threatened a 50 per cent t...

Trump narrows focus on ‘killing America’s enemies’ in speech to graduate cadets

US President Donald Trump used the first service academy commencement address of his second term on Saturday (local time) to laud graduating West Point cadets for their accomplishments and career choice while also veering sharply into a campaign-style recitation of political boasts and long-held grievances. "In a few moments, you'll become graduates of the most elite and storied military academy in human history," Trump said at the ceremony at Michie Stadium. "And you will become officers of the greatest and most powerful army the world has ever known. And I know, because I rebuilt that army, and I rebuilt the military. And we rebuilt it like nobody has ever rebuilt it before in my first term." President Donald Trump salutes during the United States Military Academy co...

Five House Republicans stall Trump’s ‘big, beautiful’ tax bill

Getty Images A budget bill, long touted by Donald Trump as the "big, beautiful bill" hit a roadblock on Friday when lawmakers from the president's own party voted against it in congress. Five Republicans joined all Democrats in delivering a stunning setback to President Trump's domestic agenda, demanding deeper budget cuts. Trump, who has muscled through close votes several times this year, urged lawmakers to unite behind the legislation. "We don't need 'GRANDSTANDERS' in the Republican Party. STOP TALKING, AND GET IT DONE!," he posted on Truth Social. The bill's chances of success are not hopeless, but its failure gives the Trump administration its first legislative bruise of the year. Support for the bill among Republicans varies. Some hard-liners want to see the bud...
