Coca-Cola says it will release a new version of its soft drink after Trump recommendation

Coca-Cola confirmed that it will release a new Coke made with cane sugar. The announcement follows a social media post from President Donald Trump last week in which he claimed he persuaded the company to replace high-fructose corn syrup. The company revealed in its earnings report that as "part of its ongoing innovation agenda," it will launch in the autumn an "offering made with US cane sugar" as part of its product range. Some versions of Coke already use cane sugar, including Coca-Cola sold in Mexico. "This addition is designed to complement the company's strong core portfolio and offer more choices across occasions and preferences," Coca-Cola said in a statement. CEO James Quincey said on a call with analysts that he thinks the drink "will be an ...

Obama issues rare statement responding to Trump’s ‘ridiculous’ claim

Barack Obama has issued a statement rejecting claims made by Donald Trump that Russia successfully manipulated votes in the 2016 US Election. Obama acknowledged Russia potentially may have attempted to influence the election, but it did not successfully affect the outcome. I intend to meet with her soon. No one is above the law – and no lead is off-limits," Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in an X post. Blanche added in a statement posted by Attorney General Pam Bondi on social media that if "Ghislane Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say." Trump hints at timeline for tariffs on $1.6 billion of Aussie exports

US President Donald Trump has said he will "probably" impose tariffs on pharmaceutical drug imports from the end of July. Speaking to reporters today, Trump said he would start out at a lower tariff rate and give companies a year to build domestic factories before they face higher import tax rates. He said this could come into effect "at the end of the month". Donald Trump has said he will "probably" impose tariffs on pharmaceutical imports at the end of July. (AP) Australian exports to the US are already subject to a 10 per cent tariff, with Trump recently saying that could rise to 15 or 20 per cent by August 1. But now it appears pharmaceutical exports could come in for special attention. Trump previously said tariffs on pharmaceuticals could climb as hi...

Trump lashes out at ‘weaklings’ who believe Epstein ‘hoax’ amid building GOP pressure to release documents

US President Donald Trump has accused some of his longtime supporters of being "weaklings" who are falling prey to Democratic "bullshit" about the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — concluding that he no longer wants their support. The message was the clearest sign yet of the cracks emerging in the president's coalition, many of whom are loudly demanding more information about the disgraced financier, who has been subject to myriad conspiracies since his death by suicide in 2019. And some of his allies don't appear to be listening, with Republicans in Congress taking steps on Wednesday morning (Wednesday night AEST) to potentially force the Justice Department to release more documents. With Trump defending the findings, the situation has set up an unprecedented ...
