Several Texas state House Democrats ripped up the written agreements that allowed them to leave the chamber with a police escort and returned to the House floor. The politicians will spend the night on the House floor with state Rep. Nicole Collier, who has stayed in the chamber for more than 24 hours after declining to sign the "permission slip" to leave. US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited the epicentre of Texas' still-growing measles outbreak, the same day a funeral was held for a second young child who was not vaccinated and died from a measles-related illness. Knnedy said in a social media post that he was working to "control the outbreak" and went to Gaines County on Sunday to comfort the families who have buried two young children. LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A Texas county near New Mexico — where abortion is legal — has banned helping people traveling to get an abortion in one of the newest ways conservatives are trying to restrict abortion access since the fall of Roe v. Wade. Lubbock County is the largest of four Texas counties that have now adopted a version of the measure, which would be enforced through lawsuits filed by private citizens against people who help women obtain abortions.
