What we know about Iran’s secretive Fordow nuclear site

Five tunnels burrowing into a group of mountains, a large support structure and a wide security perimeter: that's all you can see of Iran's mysterious Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant from recent satellite imagery. The secretive, heavily guarded complex built close to the holy city of Qom has been fuelling speculation about its true nature and size since it was first made public in 2009. A chunk of what we do know about it comes from a trove of Iranian documents stolen years ago by Israeli intelligence. A satellite image taken on June 14, 2025, shows no visible damage after Israel's strikes on Friday. The mass "No Kings" demonstrations held across the US to protest US President Donald Trump and his military parade attracted some very famous faces. Over 2000 protests took place in 50 different US states to rail against "authoritarianism, billionaire-first politics, and the militarisation of our democracy" under Trump, according to organisers. Marchers took to the streets at the same time a military parade rolled through Washington, DC, to mark the 250th anniversary of the US Army, which also happened to be Trump's 79th birthday. ‘Immediately evacuate Tehran’: Trump’s chilling social media warning

US President Donald Trump has urged a complete evacuation of the Iranian capital city of Tehran, as the conflict with Israel continues to escalate. "Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. "Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Donald Trump urged "everyone" to evacuate Tehran, Iran, "immediately". (Truth Social) "Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!" Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s office says Trump meeting cancellation ‘understandable’

A spokesperson for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's office says it is "understandable" his face-to-face meeting with Donald Trump was cancelled, after the White House said the US president would be leaving the G7 summit in Canada early. "President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X. "Much was accomplished, but because of what's going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State." Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the G7. (Alex Ellinghausen) Albanese was set to meet Trump on the sidelines of the G7 this week, but the timing of Trump's departure now means it will not go...

Pope Leo XIV celebrates first Mass as pope and calls his election both a cross and a blessing

Pope Leo XIV, history's first US-born pontiff, said on Friday that his election was both a cross to bear and a blessing as he celebrated his first Mass as the head of the Catholic Church. Leo spoke off-the-cuff in English in the Sistine Chapel to the cardinals who elected him to follow in the footsteps of Pope Francis, who put a commitment to social justice at the core of his papacy. He acknowledged the great responsibility they had placed on him before delivering a brief but dense homily on the need to joyfully spread Christianity in a world that often mocks it.
