The controversial ex-cop who was the only ‘no’ in the Epstein vote

Both Democrats and Republicans readied for a unanimous vote this morning to pass a bill that would force a release of the case files relating to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. But in the end, one man stood alone in opposition: Republican Representative Clay Higgins. Higgins, who is in his fifth term representing a congressional district in south-west Louisiana, explained in a lengthy statement that he was "a principled 'NO' on this bill from the beginning". US Senate unanimously agrees to send Epstein files bill to Trump’s desk once it’s received from House

The US Senate has unanimously agreed to pass the House-backed bill forcing the Justice Department to release its Epstein case files, as soon as it is received from the chamber. The Senate, having adopted it by unanimous consent, will not have to take any further action, and the bill will be transmitted to President Donald Trump's desk as soon as it arrives to the Senate. It was not immediately clear when the legislation would be received in the Senate. In this July 30, 2008, file photo, Jeffrey Epstein, centre, appears in court in West Palm Beach, Fla. White House pressuring Republicans not to vote on releasing Epstein files

Top Trump administration officials have met with a key GOP lawmaker about an effort in the US House to force a vote on releasing Justice Department case files related to Jeffrey Epstein, according to multiple sources familiar with the meeting. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt acknowledged the meeting later Wednesday when asked about reporting that administration officials were huddling with GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert. "Doesn't that show the level of transparency when we are willing to sit down with members of Congress and address their concerns?" she told reporters at the press briefing. In spite of their reputations as Trump acolytes, Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene said they will vote to release the Epstein files. (AP) Leavitt added: "I'm not go...

Donald Trump says he would consider a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell

US President Donald Trump said he would "take a look" at a pardon for convicted sex trafficker and his long-time friend Ghislaine Maxwell. The president was asked today whether he would consider a pardon after Maxwell's appeal to the Supreme Court was rejected today. The rejection means Maxwell's only hope for freedom would be a pardon from the president. Donald Trump said he would consider a pardon for friend Ghislaine Maxwell. "You know, I haven't heard the name in so long. I can say this, that I'd have to take a look at it. I would have to take a look," he said. "I'll take a look at it. I w...

US Supreme Court rejects appeal from Ghislaine Maxwell, imprisoned former girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein

The US Supreme Court has rejected an appeal from Ghislaine Maxwell, the imprisoned former girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein. On Monday (early Tuesday AEDT), the first day of their new term, the justices declined to take up a case that would have drawn renewed attention to the sordid sexual-abuse saga after President Donald Trump's administration sought to tamp down criticism over its refusal to publicly release more investigative files from Epstein's case. Lawyers for Maxwell, a British socialite, argued that she never should have been tried or convicted for her role in luring teenage girls to be sexually abused by Epstein, a New York financier. ‘It was undoubtedly suicide’: Former US Attorney General squashes Epstein conspiracy theories

Former US Attorney General Bill Barr has outlined the reasons he believes Jeffrey Epstein almost certainly took his own life, undercutting unfounded theories that swirled after the child sex offender's death during a deposition with House investigators. Barr didn't believe it was possible, he said, for someone to get into the convicted sex offender's jail cell without being captured on security camera footage. "For me, the video was the icing on the cake," Barr said in recent testimony with House investigators. "There was a lot of evidence about, you know, his state of mind and other physical evidence pointing to suicide and also testimonial and records pointing to this." Jeffrey Epstein undoubtedly died by suicide, former US Attorney General Bill Barr says....
